fully awake
I have always been an early riser. Years ago I read a quote from (I think) Katharine Hepburn that went: There are 2 types of people in the world, those who awake and want to live and those who would rather sleep and prefer being dead. I wanted to live, of course, and I happily awoke bright and early. Something happened, though. Within the last few years I would awake with a grumble. I didn't want to get up and face the day. Under the covers I would stay, until the very last minute. This morning, in my bed, under MY roof, I awoke bright and early! I felt refreshed and eager to face the day! It was wonderful. I am so happy. I am on my own. I am independent. I am free! I've needed this for a long time-- now it is finally here. And to think all I had to do was act. It was up to me all along. I did it.
