The Dream King :: Starring Trent Carlini
I am in VEGAS! Last night I saw Trent "The Dream King" Carlini! His performance was truly electrifying. I was absolutely giddy sitting there watching him. The resemblence is incredible!
My company didn't choose a hotel on the strip so to get to the show I took a taxi cab with a bunch of collegues. I was certain they would join me at the Holiday Inn Boardwalk Casino to see Trent's Elvis performance. They got out of the cab with me and followed me into the casino, but as soon as I got to the ticket booth they were gone. I didn't mind going to the show alone, in fact it worked out great because I was able to sit very close to the stage. If you read my previous entry, you would know that the last time I saw the show, Trent's pants split in the middle of the performance. I just want to report that the Black Leather Outfit he wore is still in operation since the crotch seam has been darned with a grayish burgendy thread. Just kidding, the theatre was too dark to notice. :-) Anyway, I won 30.00 at the roulette table this afternoon. Yesterday I lost 100.00 at Keno. I am nowhere near break-even. Oh, I forgot to mention that Trent gave me his purple scarf!!!! He is a wee man. When I stood up to receive the scarf, I could look him right in the eye. He was standing on a 2 foot stage.

The next few weeks are going to be very busy for me. Tomorrow I go to Las Vegas. The next week I am off to Florida. The following week I have a 4 day class in Chicago. Finally, the week before Christmas I am going to BERLIN to visit Heiko! That is a lot if time spent in the sky! I keep reminding myself it is the safest means of travel next to elevators. Of course, I never felt very comfortable in elevators.
At any rate, when I am in Vegas I plan on going to see: The Dream King :: Starring Trent Carlini I saw him once on the Vicki Lawrence Talk Show when I was in college and then I saw him in 1997 and again in 2000. He is the GREATEST ELVIS IMPERSONATOR of ALL TIME!!!!! One truly forgets they are watching Trent Carlini...it is like the spirit of Elvis possesses Trent's body and entertains for an hour! He covers Elvis through the years...Young Elvis, GI Elvis, Movie Star Elvis, Black Leather: 68 Special ELvis, Vegas Elvis....luckily he does not do fat, bloated, puking Elvis. Sadly, I am afraid that this performance will not match the last one I saw...you see, as Trent dropped to do an Elvis knee drop followed by a side lunge, the crotch of his black leather jumpsuit ripped. Now, I didn't see anything that I wasn't supposed to, but it was quite thrilling. :-) Lance Burton doesn't do anything like that!!!!
Bright Light City gonna set my soul, gonna set my soul on FIRE! Viva Las Vegas!

Thanksgiving was very nice. Dad fried a turkey. Actually, he fried 3 turkies- but only one was ours. I helped my mom in the kitchen. Yes, it's true, I have started to cook. Don't believe me? Well, my mom will vouch that I made incredible stuffing and a wonderful sweet potato caserole. I have been on quite a cooking kick ever since I watched "Nigella Bites" on the E! channel. If you haven't seen this fabulous cooking show- try to catch it! It is probably one of the best cooking shows I have ever seen!!! (I actually like it better than the Two Fat Ladies!) Since I am gushing, let me also add that I think Nigella is just the most and I want to be just like her!!!! Getting back to Thanksgiving, I also spent a good chunk of the day watching An Affair to Remember. It is such a great film and despite the fact that Hollywood keeps remaking it, they simply just don't make films like that anymore. Cary Grant, in my opinion, was one of the best leading men of all time. I never particularly cared for Deborah Kerr, but it was certainly nice to see Cary paired with a mature, sophisticated lady rather than the usual ingenue. I must admit that I was so upset that Deborah couldn't send word to Cary that she was in an accident. I hate that she just stood him up, regardless of the circumstances. In my mind there is just nothing worse than letting a person wait and wait.

C Is For Cookie
Now what starts with the letter C?
Cookie starts with C
Let's think of other things
That starts with C
Oh, who cares about the other things?

C is for cookie, that's good enough for me
C is for cookie, that's good enough for me
C is for cookie, that's good enough for me
Oh, cookie, cookie, cookie starts with C

Hey you know what?
A round cookie with one bite out of it
Looks like a C
A round donut with one bite out of it
Also looks like a C
But it is not as good as a cookie
Oh and the moon sometimes looks like a C
But you can't eat that, so

C is for cookie, that's good enough for me, yeah!

My appetite has been so ferocious. My hunger insatiable. I am voracious! All I want to do is consume, consume, consume. So I've been going on power walks hoping to compensate. Hopefully, I will revert back to my good old self, shortly. I am looking forward to Thanksgiving. We will once again fry a turkey. This time we may do something new and soak it in salt water beforehand.
I am going to Las Vegas at the end of the month. I get back on the 2nd which means I miss my new cousin's baptism. I must try to get my flight changed so I can attend. I bought a new dress at the Banana Republic and the baptism is a great excuse to wear it! That and other things, of course.
I spoke to Heiko today. On the phone! I love it when he calls. I always answer, "This is Donna" and he responds, "This is HEI-Ko!" I guess it's just me.
I want to see the new French film Amelie, or spelled something similar. It looks good.
This evening my mom and dad and I went to DeLorenzo's Pizza in Trenton. Oh my God it is the best Pizza ever! I am stuffed! But still yearning for more.
It's time to take the dog for a walk. My little Lily! :-)

The department was approved and I now have a new and improved position. Nothing has been announced company wide yet, but hopefully something will be said shortly. I feel absolutely relieved! I was becoming so accustomed to failure!
