Another gouge-- gonna need some spackle here!

Scraping wallpaper paste. Night after night. I feel like Sisyphus. I scrape and scrape but I can't get down to the wall. All I wanted was to live in a house that doesn't have pink walls. One day, maybe in five years, I will have the walls clean and ready to paint. Just in time for me to move out.

The house isn't that old-- 17 years old. Somehow I was fortunate enough to buy a house that had old wallpaper. I may rent a steamer-- we shall see. I am hoping to get the place painted by Friday-- fingers crossed!

The steamer is the way to go, especially in an old house. Highly recommended.

I wouldn't have thought that the wallpaper in your house would have been attached by paste; I was under the impression that self-adhering wallpaper had been in use for a long, long time. Even removing the self-adhering kind is a pain. Thankfully, my exposure to wallpaper removal/hanging has been very limited.

Yep, a steamer helps things move along quickly. And wallpaper is the bane of any homeowner's existence. You know (now that you are a bigtime homeowner with money to throw around) you might want to just hire somebody. OH well I guess its time to call in some favors with friends! He he he.... Good luck

Are you using any chemicals? I rented a steamer once for that purpose and it still took me over a week to remove all the glue crap.
