Saw the most delightful movie last night. It was titled Midnight and starred Claudette Colbert, Don Ameche, John Gilbert, and Mary Astor. I never heard of this film before but it rivals many of the other more well-known screwball comedies out there (i.e. Bringing Up Baby). Don Ameche was fantabulous! Made me wish pomaded hair and little tiny mustachios were back in fashion. Check it out if you have a chance, you won't be disappointed.
The other day as Lisa and I were going through the DVD section of Best Buy, I was hit with an epiphany! Why do I go to the cinema and spend 30.00 on 2 tickets and candy when I can wait a few short months and BUY THE DVD for 20.00 (or rent it for 5.00)? I can watch the DVD as many times as I want. The DVD does not have commericals. The DVD allows me to watch it in the comfort of my own home and not be disturbed by cell phones and rude people who talk loudly and chew with their mouths open. Yes, I think I have come upon something here.

Yep, we watched "Some Like It Hot". Was a great movie. Still funny after and I hope they don't try to redo it with some "good looking but poor acting" actors. Which in my opinion is quite a few of the actors today. Anyways have a good one

I'm a great fan of the screwball and romantic comedies of the 30s through the 50s, and finding that many of them are on DVD in the bargain section of my retail establishment, which means they are selling for less than $11 US. And these films are ones you can watch over and over again.
Posted by: Larry at January 21, 2004 06:21 AMI recently subscribed to NetFlix, which i find amazing. $20 a month for unlimited DVD rentals. I can only hold 3 at a time, after i send each one back they send me the next one in the queue. I choose what movies i want, which order i want them sent in, etc, all for $20. I've been getting about 3 a week so far. Currently i'm catching up on all the Woody Allen films. I suggest you look into that, plus, it will give you options to see films you normally wouldn't spend a lot of money for. www.netflix.com
Posted by: John Beck at January 20, 2004 09:47 PMYep, i've come up with the same reason. Plus I'm getting to the point where I can just put a movie into the juke-box and go from there. The other reason is my GF has a hearing problem, so spending the 20-30 dollars to go to the movies is somewhat of a waste since she cannot hear in the range of the voices. Unfortunately I can hear VERY well and I tend to hear the mouthbreathers, people eating with their mouth open, kids, parents, cell phones, etc. etc. Anyways have a good one and I hope the house goes well. I just remember what my father and brother told me when I got my first house. "You are now one of the lucky few that OWN a house..." I hope all goes well with closing.
