Guess what I have in my pocket?

Bobo LURVES Rob. He is absolutely head over heals for him! Rob came over last night and Bobo wanted to spend every moment on him. Rob said, “Your dog really likes my crotch.” Eventually we tried to push him off to Lisa but instead of retiring to her loft, Bo spent the evening outside my door running back and forth, spinning in circles and scratching. I think Bo just likes men. He gets enough female attention from Lisa and me.

Yesterday I went to Manhattan. I had a funny feeling that something was going to go wrong with the train. In fact, as I got in my car to leave, I stopped. “Should I go? Do I really need to go?” I actually hesitated and thought about turning around but I was dressed and ready so I left. The train into Manhattan was fine. No problem there. The problem occurred trying to get home. The station was packed and all the trains were delayed. When a train finally arrived, it was packed with people and I had to stand. Eventually I got a seat and a little after 7 we pulled into Trenton. I guess it could have been much worse.

Something is wrong with my MobiBlu. It is acting like a scratched record except instead of repeating a song part, it goes back to the very first song, plays it and then sort of reboots itself and then when I hit play, it plays the first song again. The only way I can listen to it is to skip the first song. Then when the song is finished, it reboots and I have to again skip skip skip ahead. Pain in the butt. I can’t do a firmware upgrade on it since the update software doesn’t seem to recognize it. Grrrrrr!

Next weekend is the Bethlehem Musikfest! Anyone going? Anyone have suggestions for bands to see? I plan on going and I am open to suggestions!

Only as good as your last

A sale I had been working for a few weeks finally came through yesterday. KA-CHING! Very happy. Lisa and I went out to eat to celebrate. Doesn’t that sound fancy? We just went to Uno’s Happy Hour and had an appetizer that cost 2.99. Lisa wanted to go to Barnes & Noble to find a book for her class. She had no luck but afterward we went to H&M and I bought 4 dresses! Three of which look like something Mrs Emma Peel wore in the Avengers! The last one is something I can wear to work.

I am slowly getting ready for work. Today I decided to go to Manhattan although I don’t really think I need to go. It’s good for me to get my butt over there at least once or twice a week so I might as well go today. I gotta say, work is finally picking up. The days don’t go by so slowly. I have a better grasp on what I am doing. It is getting good.

When I was trying on the dresses, Lisa kept saying to me, “Now that is special!” I was a little surprised because I thought the dresses looked really nice and so I said, “Do I embarass you, Becca?” Lisa then explained to me that the designer judges on Project Runway say “special” and that it is a good thing!

Whew!

Desperately Happy

Can the end of the weekend be here already? Tomorrow I have to go back to work? It was a good weekend. I found myself exposed to a ton of bands and singers I’ve never heard of before but I know I will be listening to ad nauseum in the upcoming weeks. I guess it’s time I finally take Katie Melua off the playlist. I know nothing about moderation when it comes to music.

Acoustics

Rob left his guitar here. I just noticed it sitting on the floor. He came over last night and as another storm raged outside, he sat on the corner of my bed and serenaded me. He sang Johnny Cash, Cat Stevens, Gordon Lightfoot and others. When he sang Cat Steven’s Father and Son, I was transported back to another time in my life. I remember listening to that song as I sat on the edge of a bathtub in a shitty Berlin apartment. It was my last night in Berlin and I locked myself in the bathroom to get privacy. I was struggling with the decision of throwing away my plane ticket and staying in Berlin or taking the plane back to Philadelphia. From outside the bathroom, I could hear Father and Son playing and I heard the lyric, “Now there’s a way and I know that I have to go away/ I know I have to go.” I interpreted that to mean it was time for me to move on and get on with my life in Philadelphia and not Berlin. I remember sitting on that bathtub ledge and crying and crying. At that moment, I had no clue what the future would hold for me. I know now that I made the right decision. Thank goodness for Yusuf Islam!

This afternoon I went to Judy’s funeral service. It was held in the chapel at the Shrine of Czestochowa. It was a nice service except the acoustics were terrible and I had a very hard time hearing the priests. What a summer, first George and now Judy. Both from cancer. It’s so sad.

Oh no Toto!

It seemed like a hurricane and it came out of nowhere. Lisa and I were at Acme. I gave the cashier money when all of a sudden the entire store went dark. The backup power came on and we were able to leave. Outside the wind was blowing so hard and the little raindrops stung my face as I ran to the car. Driving home, we saw two power lines get hit by lightning! There was a bright white surge of light and sparks. The car in front of us just stopped dead! Lisa honked the horn as we screamed, MOVE IT! I could just imagine the lines falling down on us! Luckily the ass moved and we were able to speed home. We carried the bags of groceries into the house amidst a downpour. We were soaking wet from having just walked a few feet. Closing the door behind us, the house went dark. Little Bo was so scared and he immediately jumped into my arms. We quickly threw the food into the refrigerator and made our way back to the parlor. Lisa lit candles and we sat watching the lightning flash across the sky. After two hours, I decided it was time to go to sleep. It was only 10:00. It’s amazing how peaceful sleep can be when it is undisturbed by sounds like the overhead fan, air conditioner, laptop hard drive, etc… The power went back on sometime around 4 or 5 in the morning.

This evening I am going to an outdoor concert. I hope the weather is nice.

Fun-filled night

I fell asleep quickly last night only to awake at 2am. I could not go back to sleep. The cough syrup must be the culprit. I putzed around the house and then I just layed in bed daydreaming. I think I finally fell asleep at 5:00. Oddly enough, I don’t feel overly tired. Insomnia is never fun.

My voice still sounds horrific. I thought that by today it would have gotten somewhat better. No such luck. If only I felt like crap, then I could justify taking a day off work but I feel very chipper! I feel chipper but I sound like a dying cow. Loverly!

I was going to commute to Manhattan today but my manager said not to bother. This is great because it is so freaking hot outside! I just hope my manager doesn’t say anything about coming into the office tomorrow. I have plans in the evening and there is no way I can do a two hour trek from NYC. It’ll be okay. Oh and that August 1st start date of the Philly office? Postponed again! Now it’s Sept 1. Ugh!

Not nerp

What is it called when a car only has one headlight shining?

I call it a piddidle.

When Lisa and I were little, we would keep an eye out for a piddidle and when we saw one, we would just scream, “Piddidle!” Whoever screamed it first could gloat until the next Piddidle would drive by.

Someone recently told me that the word they used wasn’t Piddidle but Spadoodle.

Did you play this game and if so, what word did you use?
