This is such a lovely song!

“Nine Million Bicycles” by KATIE MELUA

There are nine million bicycles in Beijing
That’s a fact,
It’s a thing we can’t deny
Like the fact that I will love you till I die.

We are twelve billion light years from the edge,
That’s a guess,
No-one can ever say it’s true
But I know that I will always be with you.

I’m warmed by the fire of your love everyday
So don’t call me a liar,
Just believe everything that I say

There are six BILLION people in the world
More or less
and it makes me feel quite small
But you’re the one I love the most of all

Whew!

This morning I spent getting donnaville back in order. The blogroll is updated, my archives and viewmaster galleries have been restored. I even copied my old, old TelevisionCity9912 Web site onto the new server and put it back to it’s former glory. You can see it here: Geoshities.donnaville.com I may rename the subdomain to TelevisionCity9912, I don’t know. At first I though geoshities was funny but it seems a little ungrateful. They hosted my site for free! I shouldn’t be cruel.

Peppermint Patty

Yesterday I spent the afternoon and evening at my Cousin Patty’s house.  She had a BBQ in celebration of her daughter’s birthday and graduation.  It was so nice seeing Patty and Eileen and Maryann and Ann Louise.  I rarely ever see them.  We agreed to get together on September 23rd at the donnavilla for a BBQ.  I hope they really do plan on coming.  Patty got out her photo album of her wedding.  Believe it or not, I was her Flower Girl.  Looking at the pictures of our grandmother, their mother (my Aunt Mary), our Uncle John, I got all teary eyed.  They have all passed away and I miss them all.  It was sad but also very nice to remember the bonds.

Blogroll Voila!

I updated the blogroll.  After donnaville went down last week, (all I did was transfer my archives to the new server and somehow everything just imploded, I don’t know what happened) I couldn’t find the time to fix everything so the blogroll just reflected the template blogroll that comes with WordPress. It is now updated to reflect my favorite sites except I got kinda bored in the middle of it and started typing weird things… I will fix it later.  If I missed you, let me know and I will put you back, I am not one for repetitive work.  (repetitive blog entries, yes; repetitive work, no)

TGIF

Thank goodness it is Friday!  I am so happy, although I think my weekend will not be a complete respite from craziness.  I just got back from my morning appointment. I wish I could call it an early day but there is still so much work to complete.

Superheroes and Captain Kirk

It was 9 years ago today that Lisa and I boarded a train in Antwerp to Amsterdam. It was in Amsterdam where we met our Berlin friends and had the most amazing and memorable time of our lives. Nine years ago. Unbelievable!

I listened to this song over and over on that trip. I really am not sure what it’s about but I always had the feeling it had something to do with premature ejaculation.

For those of you not lucky enough to have sat through 10 years of German class, here are the lyrics translated à la Altavista Babel Fish:

I saw Luise to each day completely alone on the meadow which I saw if it undressed attracted me. It was not only above without it was altogether not without which it without was that was only without man. And I thought of the things which we both would never make but which did not come then have I thought; because it herueberkam to me and it smiles on me down and it says to me: I love you today night. No fear said the dad to me no fear says the mummy me but if that says the Luise completely lies to me in bed then that did not have the consequences the Luise gladly. No fear said the dad to me no fear has the mummy me says… My buddy in the stasse could at all do not seize which they saw considered it strange. And I was just as if I this woman in the arms held in such a way there would I not which happened. As only the small Stephan came to the large beautiful Mrs. ran surely everyone thought us saw itself. But Luise smiles quietly it white in its way which it wants and makes it somehow also true. No fear said the dad to me no fear has the mummy me gasagt… No fear no fear! If one asks: as it continued the tendency remained further cheerful or was there frustration gradually nevertheless? I must say the Luise was in this small crisis of the largest elegance and discretion. And as it can end better than in its beautiful hands it held the luck and did not release it. Again the Luise smiles as at the beginning on the meadow and the joy meinerseits was finally large. No fear said the dad to me no fear has the mummy me says… No fear said the dad to me no fear has the mummy me says… nevertheless if that the Luise says completely lies to me in the bed then that has now the consequences that Luise gladly! No fear no fear!

Tomato Pie my way

I am at my parent’s house.  Just got here.  We are going to DeLorenzo’s tonight for pizza.  Can’t wait!  My belly is crying out for it!

The weather was so warm today!  I had a very nice walk through the city but instead of enjoying it, I thought about all the work I had to do and how I so needed to get back to the office.

The train stalled on the tracks this morning right before the Hamilton Station.  Apparently there were issues yesterday and the conductor kept apologizing over the loudspeaker.  Finally, it was decided they would let us off the train and have us board the train right next to it.

“Ladies and Gentleman, we are going to have you board the neighboring train, the thing is, both of these trains are electric and so it is imperative you do not touch both trains at the same time!  I repeat DO NOT TOUCH BOTH TRAINS AT THE SAME TIME!  If you do, you will be electrocuted!”

We exited and walked a few paces between the trains (which were VERYCLOSETOGETHERTHANKGOODNESSIAMNOTAWIDEPERSON) and then we boarded.  Let me tell you, a morning cup of coffee to wake me up was not necessary this morning.

Underneath it all

I have a meeting in Philly today. That means I don’t have to take the train into NYC! I don’t mind the train. I like having an excuse that enables me to sit for two hours looking out a window and listening to my MobiBlu. There is no guilt associated with this lazinesss since I know there isn’t anything more productive I could be doing other than reading a book or working on proposals. And I am okay with that.

It’s amazing the amount of people, just like me, who sit on the train with white earplugs pushed deeply into their aural cavities. Some are business people, others look like students. I look at them and try to figure out what music is flowing through their mp3 player. The other day I was on the train, wearing my suit, looking all professional and spiffy and underneath it I wore my Supergirl underoos and piping through my mobiBlu was the theme to the Muppet Show. I couldn’t help but smile and wonder if anyone had a clue.

Boo Hoo!

After work, I came straight home to Mom and Dad’s house. Lisa and Barbara were already there and I joined everyone for dinner.  At around 7 we left for the movies.  We watched the Lakehouse.  Let me tell you, it doesn’t get anymore Chick Flickier than that!  I LOVED IT!  When Keanu Reeves said, “She’s more real to me than anything I’ve ever known,” I just started bawling.  That man can work a sweater turtleneck and corduroy blazer!
