OOps!

by Donna on February 28th, 2006

I completely forgot about the career workshop today! I’ve been going every Tuesday since I was canned and for some odd reason I just plum forgot about it. The workshop was on what to do with severance, 401Ks and pension plans. Oh well. I guess I can get that information in other places if I really wanted to seek it out.

This morning I awoke to a light layer of snow on the ground. It was so pretty but now it is just about melted. I think NetFlix lost one of my DVDs. Or I lost it on the way to the mailbox. I have searched all over the house and cannot find it. I must have mailed it. Guess it’s time to report it as missing. Ugh!

Is it strange I am looking forward to lunch? Yesterday I bought 3 Subway hoagies for 12.99. Lisa and I shared one for dinner. The other two will be eaten today and tomorrow for lunch and/or dinner. I love stockpiling hoagies. The only problem is they get a little soggy. I should have asked the girl to make them dry. I never learn.

mask

It’s been a week since I visited the dermatologist. My face is very nearly 95% better. There is a slight discoloration but otherwise it is looking fine. To think just 7 days ago I was worried if I would ever look normal again.

My severance check hit my bank account this morning. There is only one more check left from my company and it’s a small one for my last week of expenses. Once that one hits, I am finished with my old company. Life goes on.

Dusty Springfield & Tom Jones- Upside Down

by Donna on February 27th, 2006

I know Dusty was of a sapphic tilt, I still think she and Tom Jones should have had children together if only for the music.

Watch a YouTube video of them singing Upside Down.

No Ponyboy or Sodapop

by Donna on February 27th, 2006

Was my intel incorrect? I thought I read that Ponyboy was going to be in this week’s episode of 24. Maybe I read it wrong. Or maybe it’s next week. I don’t know.

by Donna on February 27th, 2006

Forgot to report on Sunday I FOUND GAS FOR $2.03!!!!!!!! Where I live, gas typically goes for $2.49. Keep in mind I drive a 1994 Chevy Caprice Classic. The gas tank holds about 25 gallons. You do the math. It ain’t pretty.

Bad news

I am so sorry Mommy! The Kolchak: The Night Stalker reunion special you have been dreaming of will not take place.

Darren McGavin died.

Don Knotts was #1, Darren McGavin is #2. Who will complete the celebrity death triangle?

UPDATE! Dennis Weaver rounds out the trio.

beta

by Donna on February 27th, 2006

Does anyone know where I might purchase a working betamax player? I don’t want to spend much money. People are selling them on eBay however the ones that work are going for quite a bit of money. There has to be another place other than eBay. Right?

Hitchhiking

by Donna on February 27th, 2006

And the job search continues.

It really is such a shame I am not independently wealthy. Although something tells me even if I were I wouldn’t be living the Paris Hilton lifestyle.

I am beginning to wonder if there is a secret to overriding Netflix’s throttling? Perhaps instead of sending the DVD back the day after receiving it, you hold it an extra day? Or perhaps if I send back the DVDs on Mondays and Fridays? The problem is, I am not patient enough to experiment. All I know is I am undoubtedly being throttled. It takes FOREVER to receive DVDs anymore. I can’t wait for VOD.

Do it for Johnny, man!

by Donna on February 26th, 2006

There was an article in the paper about Ponyboy joining the cast of 24 as an evil Therapist. Suddenly I am really looking forward to tomorrow’s episode.

Tonight at dinner

by Donna on February 26th, 2006

“I read in the paper that American Idol beat the Olympics in ratings,” said my mom.
“That makes sense,” I replied, “The Olympics are so boring. I watched it back in 1984 and it’s exactly the same, nothing has changed except for the names.”
