Last Year’s Resolutions Revisited

Donna’s Resolutions for 2004
1. Stop being so gosh darn messy! This is going to become even more important now that I am about to own a condo.
PARTIAL SUCCESS! Yes, my bedroom gets messy but the Donna villa is almost always sparkling.

2. Join a Health Club. I didn’t do it last year; maybe I will do it this year. I should think it is a great place to meet people and it is about time I get myself into some physical shape.
FAILURE! I have done nothing to get myself fit. NOTHING AT ALL. Unless you count lifting the chocolate bar to my mouth a workout.

3. Get away from the computer– Go out, meet people, have fun, be active.
FAILURE I sit in front of the computer far too much. Although I briefly ventured out with the aid of eHarmony, I am still alone.

4. Look at other companies and investigate different job positions. Maybe even interview. If I am not going to get married and have little babies, I might as well try to make as much money as I can.
FAILURE I did not do a darn thing in terms of getting a new job outside my company although I did get a much better job within my company. If anything, I have more experience and am now better situated to get another job somewhere else.

5. Stop crossing legs AND when lying in bed– lie on BACK. Usually I lie on my side and the skin on my face is all stretched and I drool and it is really gross.
PARTIAL SUCCESS I don’t cross my legs to the same extent although I still wake up on my side and my face is all scrunched up.

I didn’t do very well this last year. Oh well, there is always next year!

I get drunk most every night

Lisa and I went to Havanna’s and ordered Dirty Hos. 1/2 Framboise Lambic, 1/2 Blue Moon. Very tasty, but very expensive. I drowned my sorrows and felt much better. Now I am all dressed and ready to visit my parents. I also have a few errands to run.

This evening I am meeting up with Erin and Pete, Kathy and her beau, Audra and a bunch of others to usher in the new year with style at the lovely Inn of the Hawk! We shall have a ton of fun! Maybe that old, decrepit man who looks like Chris Kristofferson will kiss me at the stroke of midnight again! A girl can dream, can’t she?

TO DO

I gave up and hired a woman to help me with my resume. Everything is listed, I am just unhappy with how it reads. If it costs me a hundred or two, I figure it is worth it.

Foggy head

I had a crazy dream Dawn Eden was giving out tiny little trinkets for Christmas. She kept saying, “Take one, Donna!” But there was nothing there I wanted…Bobbleheads and little cheap action figures. Awaking with the dream front and center in my mind, I wondered if it symbolized me turning away from religion or the Internet but then I realized that last night I went to a dollar store with Glenn and we looked at cheap trinkets and Glenn bought Incredible Hulk playing cards. Then, before I went to sleep, I read the Dawn Patrol. The dream was just me recycling the events of my day. No higher meaning was present.

My parents bought me a coffeemaker for Christmas. It’s from Braun’s Impressions Design collection. Not only is it quite lovely to look at, it brews the BEST COFFEE! My father bought it because the coffee doesn’t get reheated but rather goes directly into a thermal carafe keeping it hot for hours! The Web site says: “Get the sensual experience of the new Braun Impressions Design Collection.” SENSUAL? Who thought of that? Probably the same firm that came up with the Disaronno commercial. You know the one: “Disaronno’s warm, sensual taste will make you wish it would never end.” I shalll never drink Disaronno mainly because if it has a sensual taste, I figure it must be pretty salty.

Last night Joe and Judy from across the street came over. We spent the evening talking about pretty much everything under the sun. It was so nice. They brought us 2 mugs that match our kitchen’s bright green wall and a can of “Sister” tea and 2 Christmas ornaments. As we sat in the parlor, all warm and toasty, drinking cider and eating Christmas cookies, I couldn’t help but think about the people on the other side of the globe struggling after that tsunami.

More space please

This morning I tried to upload a new web album but I ran out of space! I tried to buy an extra 300 megabytes but I haven’t heard from my ISP. I am hoping it will go through tomorrow.

It is snowing lightly. I found some ants in my bathroom, I think they are trying to escape the snow. Gave me the incentive I needed to scrub. I put in a load of wash and have been tinkering with my resume. This afternoon I watched the long lost, recently found and restored film, INCUBUS! Starring the great William Shatner and shot entirely in ESPERANTO! It reminded me of Ingmar Bergman’s films. I especially liked the goat ravishing scene at the end. Check it out if only for the novelty.

The Loot!

3 shirts
2 Supergirl bras
2 boxes of chocolates

1 red pashmina

Christmas was lovely. Lisa, Lanke, Glenn and I went to Washinton’s Crossing to see the reenactment of Washington and his men cross the Delaware River. We drank cider and cocoa and tried hard to keep warm. Sadly, the men were not allowed to cross because the river water was too high creating a very fast current. We went back to my parent’s house and opened our presents. Then, as I helped my mom with dinner, Lisa, Lanke and Glenn watched the Christmas Story. Dinner was roast beef, mashed potatoes, pineapple bread pudding, red cabbage, crescent rolls, and tons of other food I am forgetting. Dessert was ice cream and Christmas cookies. It was such a nice Christmas. Usually it is just my parents, Lisa and me. I am happy that Lanke and Glenn were with us this year to share in the holiday.
