Easter comes too late

I wish Easter was celebrated shortly after New Years. At least I could have time to recover from the increased food intake. As it is, I am stuffing my face with candy and leftovers knowing full well that I should be dieting and taking care of my body since shorts season is so close upon us. The last few days I have been eating bobalky which we call futchky*. I don’t know why the different name, all I know is that the cookbooks call it bobalky and my grandmother called it futchky. Whatever the name, it is sweet, raised dough (usually leftover dough from the paska), sprinkled with poppy seeds, rolled into a log, cut into pieces and baked. I put 5 or 6 in a bowl, pour hot water over them and let soak for a couple minutes. The water is drained and honey is drizzled over the futchky. Sooooooo good! That has been my breakfast every day since Easter. Dr Atkins is rolling in his grave! Yes, I feel my butt expanding. They should be finished by tomorrow. Of course there is still the Allfather’s egg and 2 (possibly 4) boxes of Peeps. Once they are finished I can then start thinking about exercising and eating healthy.

*It is a Christmas dish but we are renegades!

All in favor? Aye!

I just got back from my very first Condo Association Meeting! Very interesting. There were 5 board members sitting at a U-shaped table. The audience consisted of 4 people (including myself). The first woman complained that there was a green growth on her siding and she wanted power washers to clean it up. The second man had a list of violators. Their garage doors were a DISGRACE!!! The third man had an issue with his new roof and he was tired of everyone accusing him of taking advantage of the association! It all seemed a bit petty. Who knows, though. In a year I might be there screaming about green growth on my siding. Actually I noticed the growth just the other day so I sprayed Simple Green on it and used my garden hose to rinse it away– good as new!
Instead of doing my Cardio Salsa I am using my newly installed VCR to watch my dusty, old video tapes. Last night I watched about 3 hours of Kids in the Hall. Right now I have Forever Knight (first season!) playing. It seems useless to Cardio Salsa since every second I am running into the kitchen to cut a sliver of the Allfather’s Easter Egg my father gave me. There are 2 boxes of Peeps there too. I haven’t yet touched them. Between chocolate coconut and Peeps, chocolate coconut wins. When that last piece of chocolate disolves on my tongue– Look out, boy! Those Peeps will be in my stomach faster than you can say Peeps! I really wish I didn’t have such a sweet tooth. It’s the lack of control over my urges that really upsets me. I am normally so disciplined, that is until I am in the same room with a chocolate bar. It is like a Jekyll-Hyde transformation! ME WANT CHOCOLATE! GRRRRRR!

Dirty Dancing

Last night I did the Cardio Salsa workout! I learned how to do the Mambo, Salsa, Carmen Miranda, and Flamenco. It was a lot of fun and I can hardly wait to do it again. Now I just have to find those Tae Bo tapes Lisa never opened.
As the Internet is my witness, I am going to Salsa and Tae Bo my way to a fit body. Ole!

Strange Coinky-dink

The other day my mother handed me a brown paper bag filled with old papers of mine she found either in the garage or attic. After successfully stepping over the bag for a few days, I finally decided to go through it. There were 2 James Dean calendars, one from 1989 the other from 1998, a job hunting book from 1994, and tons of graduate school applications. The craziest thing I found was a recommendation letter from the CRUSH I just blogged about last entry!

la la la la

Had Good Friday dinner with Mom and Dad. Halushki, pierogies, fish, and paska. Very, very yummy! After dinner, Lisa and I went shopping at K-Mart. I bought a VHS tape, Cardio Salsa (for $5.00!!!!). I am always so tired and cold. Maybe if I exercise, I will start feeling better.
The last part of the evening was spent at the Logan Inn’s bar. My favorite bartender wasn’t there which disappointed me slightly. He reminds me of a man I once crushed on back in college. Lisa says it’s because they are both H types. I once asked her to explain what she meant by H-type and she said, “Just like H*: Asexual, introverted, non-threatening, weak, and pasty.” Yep, that’s my type!

so soon the weekend

Tomorrow is Friday. Lisa has the day off work which means after I get off, we can go out and do something fun. Usually something fun consists of sitting at a bar and drinking beer. Or watching a movie. Or shopping for stuff for the house. Or walking around New Hope or Philadelphia. I really need to think of other things to do.
I had dinner with my Dad. He ordered a stromboli from the local pizzeria. I then watched TV for the rest of the evening. My car was low on fuel and so as I was heading back to my house I stopped to get gas. At the gas station, a police car passed and the policeman in the passenger seat looked like Billy Zane! I was just thinking about that movie he made years ago called Megaville. That would be an interesting movie to see again. At any rate, a car pulled up beside mine and a man in a cowboy shirt got out. As he stood there, pumping gas, he apparently entertained himself by making strange noises. He groaned and yelped. Then he started to sing. He made me uncomfortable and I decided I had enough gas to get me home so I quickly returned the pump and grabbed my receipt. Back in my car, driving down the road, I couldn’t remember if I replaced the gas cap and closed the little gas door on my car. Could I possibly be driving down the highway with the gas door open and the gas cap back at the Mobil? How much do gas caps cost? What kind of a fool am I to make such a dumb mistake? Once at home I found that I had returned the gas cap and closed the gas door and that a stranger really had me unnerved. Or maybe I was just distracted by my thoughts of Billy Zane in Megaville.

fresh air

You won’t believe it! I actually went outside and took a walk. The jacket I wore wasn’t a parka– and I wasn’t freezing. In fact, outside, it was temperate! It felt so good to move! I can feel my heart pumping and my blood swirling. Now that it is getting warmer, I must walk more often. Move – Breath – Live

Dinner for 4

Another fine evening. The dinner went well– no fire or infection. I am becoming quite the little cook! My father will be happy, he can reduce the dowry since I bring such skill to the table!

Dinner for 3

I had such a lovely evening. Erin and her husband Pete came over to see the donna villa. I showed them around and then I made a spaghetti dinner! Afterward we adjourned into the living room where we talked and talked. It was so very nice and I can’t wait to have them over again. Tonight, Barbara and George (Mieux’s mommy & daddy) are coming over for dinner. I am making Knockwurst, Bratwurst, mashed potatoes, and Pillsbury crescent rolls which I am hoping to reshape into pretzels. It will certainly be another wonderful evening.
